McDonald’s Calorie Chart: Calorie Calculating the McDonald’s Menu

mcdonalds calorie chart

The McDonalds calorie chart was an effort by the fast food chain to disclose nutritional information after backlash from the United Sates Government and other industries that had health concerns about the food its restaurants were serving. The McDonalds food calorie chart shows several different categories of health information for their entire menu. Other fast food restaurants have followed suit including the fast food chain’s biggest rival Burger King, which now has a Burger King calorie chart.

McDonalds Calorie Chart: By the Numbers

The McDonalds fast food calorie chart shows the following information:

  • Name
  • Serving size
  • Calories
  • Total fat
  • Saturated fat
  • Carbs
  • Sodium

The Taco Bell calorie chart and most other fast food charts disclose the same information. The McDonalds menu if full of foods high in fat, sodium and calories. In recent years the company has expanded its menu to include healthier choices such as the chicken snack wrap, yogurt parfait, and oatmeal.

Of all the major fast food hamburger chains the Wendy’s calorie chart shows their standard hamburger to be the healthiest. Their Jr. Hamburger has the following nutritional profile:

  • 230 calories
  • 8 grams fat
  • 3 grams sat. fat
  • 26 grams carbs
  • 500 mg sodium

The worst hamburger is the Carl’s Jr. Burger that has a whopping 19 grams of fat and 470 calories.

Even though charts like McDonalds calorie calculator show how unhealthy the food at these establishments is the sales only continue to increase. America has a love affair with fast food that is showing no signs of ending.

Taco Bell Calorie Chart: Best Healthy Fast Food

Taco Bell seems to be the best of the worst when it comes to fast food. Many of their selections are lower in calories and saturated fats than their competitors. They even have a fresco menu that has healthy selections with foods under 150 calories. Even though the majority of their food is high in fat, calories and sodium they seem to be the healthiest of the major fast food chains.

Taco Bell has recently come under fire for using “extenders” to add volume to their beef. The company is now facing a class action lawsuit with litigation pending as each side gathers the facts. Taco Bell vigorously denies any wrong doing and has their own litigation pending.

Fast food charts like the McDonalds calorie chart were supposed to make consumers more aware of the foods they were putting into their bodies. Consumers may be more aware but that has not stopped many from frequenting these restaurants at the same rate they did before the information was not available. McDonalds is one of the few restaurant chains that have incorporated healthier choices into their main selections.
